About MathLabs
MathLabs is a free library of visual, interactive math tools (“Labs”) for K–12 classrooms. It is made and run by Dan Shuster, a math teacher in California.
Who makes it
Dan Shuster taught high school math and computer science for 30 years. He then worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), supporting K–12 teachers with educational technology and mathematics. He now works at a charter school as an instructional coach and math specialist, and is grateful he still gets to teach one class of 8th grade math!
Dan designs each Lab around how students actually learn: they explore an idea with their teacher, notice patterns, then practice with feedback that explains common mistakes. The Labs are built with the help of AI coding tools, and Dan tests and refines every Lab before it goes on the site.
